HISTORY OF MUSIC
INTRODUCTION
- "Rebirth": Interest in learning and culture of ancient Greeks and Roman, recovery of the ideals of beauty, balance and proportion.
- Great voyages, discoveries and advances in science and astronomy.
-Individualism and Humanism: Interest in the self-awareness and self-assurance of the own man and his/her world (emotions, nature, feelings...). Importance of the humanities (literature, history, philosophy...)
- Less importance of religion.
- Artists: Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael, Michelangelo, and so on.
MUSICAL BACKGROUND

There are patrons of arts, wealthy members of society that support them paying musicians and artists for specific works. Others musicians relied on the Church.

Music: privileged art. Composers got a social importance (no anonymity)

Musical training was very important in every educative people. So, the number of professional and amateurs musicians increased. The effects resulted in more instrumental and secular music.

Musically, vocal music was the most important and polyphonic music began to grow.

Manual instructions for players and singers became important. The earliest printed ensemble score appeared in 1557. Printing gave a plentiful supply of new music, cheaper and with a uniform accuracy.
